Alerts Creator

The Alerts Creator lets you build flows: automatic on-screen alerts that fire when something happens on your channel (a follow, a sub, a raid, a scheduled tick, and more). Each flow is a small tree of steps that the overlay plays from top to bottom.

Creating a flow from a trigger

  1. Click New flow.
  2. Pick a trigger, the event that starts the alert:
    • New follow, Subscription, Gift sub, Bits, Raid, Welcome
    • Channel Points
    • Scheduled (Cron)
  3. Click Create. The flow opens straight into the editor with one empty display step.

The flow is named after its trigger by default; you can rename it at any time from the editor toolbar.

The vertical editor

A flow is edited as a vertical tree. The left pane shows the steps in order; the right pane configures the step you select. Three kinds of steps exist:

  • Display: shows a message (and optionally an asset) on the overlay.
  • Switch: branches on the value of a variable, with one or more cases plus a default branch.
  • If: a single condition (equals, greater than, contains, etc.) with a then and an else branch.

Add, remove, and nest steps in the left tree. Configure the selected step's fields in the right drawer.

Display step options

  • Message: the text shown on screen.
  • Asset: click Choose an asset to attach an image or GIF from the Media Library or EmoteLab.
  • Duration: 1 to 30 seconds.
  • Volume: 0 to 100%.
  • Animalese: an optional synthesized voice reading the message, with an adjustable pitch.

Variables

Messages can include variables that are replaced with live event data when the alert fires, for example {{event.userName}} or {{event.bits}}.

Click Insert a variable next to the message field to open the picker. Variables relevant to the current trigger are listed first under Suggested; the rest are grouped by namespace. Clicking one inserts its token ({{...}}) at the caret. The Preview box below the field shows the message rendered with sample values.

Trigger parameters

Channel Points: the Reward ID field is optional. Leave it empty to react to every Channel Points redemption, or paste a specific reward ID to only fire for that reward.

Scheduled (Cron): enter a 5-field cron expression (for example */5 * * * * for every 5 minutes). Preset buttons cover the common intervals. The Only while live switch, when on, prevents the scheduled alert from firing while your stream is offline.

Testing a flow

Use the Test button in the editor toolbar to fire the flow once so you can preview it on the overlay. Save your changes first; Save is enabled whenever there are unsaved edits.

Enabling and disabling

Each flow card has a toggle. A disabled flow stays configured but never fires. You can also toggle the active state from inside the editor.

Per-flow overlay URL

Every flow card has a link button that copies an overlay URL scoped to that flow. The generic alerts overlay accepts a ?flow=<id> parameter and only renders that one flow:

.../twitch-alerts.streamoos/twitch_alerts.html?flow=<flow-id>

Add this URL as a browser source in OBS to display a single flow on its own. All alerts share the same display queue, so even with several scoped overlays open, alerts never overlap, they play one after another.
